Houseboat Sausalito, Chelsea

Completed: Spring 2011

Build time: Six months.

Houseboat Sausalito was designed to provide a live/work space for the founder of the Yo!Sushi, Simon Woodroffe OBE.

The houseboat has accommodation over two floors and incorporates two bedrooms, two reception rooms, and three bathrooms.

The upper floor design studio has sliding doors that provide river views and fill the room with Thames light.

The boat was constructed in Chatham's historic boatyard and was the first concrete hulled houseboat to be built in Britain.

The QBuilds team carried out all the construction work, including the concrete hull and were responsible for arranging the tow from Chatham to Chelsea, her final mooring in the heart of London. The Sausalito was designed by Dirk Marine.

QBuilds were also commissioned to build a second houseboat for this client which was completed in 2012.

“Quentin and the team did a great job for us building The Sausalito. I liked it and the team so much I came back for another one….”
